The Scale of the Universe
Is it sometimes hard to grasp how big or small certain celestial objects are? You’re not alone. Truly understanding the scale of the universe is almost mind-boggling, so Cary and Michael Huang decided to make it interactive for us.
Did you know the distance from the Earth to the Moon is approximately two Jupiters long? How about that the Moon’s diameter is about the size of the United States, or that Nix - one of Pluto’s moons - is the size of tiny Rhode Island?
Of course, once you get past the sun, things are almost unbelievably huge - but this is a great learning tool for any astro enthusiast.
