The Dark Side of the Moon

Also referred to as the far side of the moon, the dark side has always been mysterious - and is even more so when you learn that it looks nothing like the side we see, with its dense craters thought to be the result of lunar lava flows. There are a number of theories as to why the moon looks this way, including the giant impact hypothesis, the co-formation theory and the capture theory.
