Stunning New View of Star Cluster RCW 38
This star cluster, known as RCW 38, is less than a million years old, making it an infant in astronomical years. It's just 5,500 light years away, and the photo was captured by the HAWK-I camera mounted on ESO's Very Large Telescope in Chile. This new image will be used to study how stars are born, particularly brown dwarfs - potentially common in RCW 38.
